2 Nephi 5 - 2 Nephi 11

  1. OKay folks, let's face it. Reading the words of Isaiah, which are are both complex and lyrically poetic, can be overwhelming. You feel like you are in a Homer like poem that has no end, just a beginning. But if you read it slowly like a fine wine should be drunk ( gentile references aside) you can see what he is trying to say. His writings have a strong Aramaic bent to them but he writes in Hebrew. How important are his messages? well after reading this weeks assignment, I re-read it to get a more complete feel for it. Several verses really stood out.
    FIrst is 1 Nephi 9:21
'And he cometh into the world that he may save all man if they will hearken unto his voice:for behold he suffereth the pains of all men
yea the pains of every living creature, both men women and children who belong to the family of Adam.'
How comforting to know that he is aware of all of us, those in the most remote parts of the world to those in the highest of authority. Not to mention he suffers for the creatures too. As long as that doesn't include snakes I find that comforting. Ironically, after struggling to read Isaiah with my pea sized brain, I had to laugh where Nephi writes that 1 Nephi 11:2 that 'my soul delights in the words of Isaiah'. Delights in them? I guess that I will have a third reading of this assignment or a fourth until my soul can feel like Nephis!

  2. One thing that stuck out to me is the blessing Lehi gives to his gradchildren. Especially those of Laman and Lemuel. For they will be helld accountable for what the do and do not teach their children....Good to know aye! :) BRING ON ISAIAH!!!!
